In 2023, the Australian Government will mark the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.
Throughout the year, Australians will be encouraged to honour and remember the service of some 60,000 Australian men and women who served in the Vietnam War. Tragically, 523 Australians lost their lives in the war, and over 3,000 were wounded.
John Douglas Publishing ltd has Military books for you to purchase now from this site which are being warehoused in Melbourne.
VIETNAM ANZACS - AUSTRALIAN EDITION:

AUSTRALIANS AND NEW ZEALANDERS IN THE VIETNAM WAR
There are over 340 photographs, maps and diagrams to help the reader understand the many operations and battles fought in the Phuoc Tuy Province and the northern border area. The Foreword has been written by General the Hon Sir Peter Cosgrove. It also includes a comprehensive Roll of Honour of the 558 Australian and New Zealand men and women who died  as a result of  serving in the War. There is also a major Index covering people, places and units.
We believe that we have been able to publish a book that is the very best on this subject. Thanks must be extended to the Australian Battalion Associations and the New Zealand Company Associations whose help and advice  made this book a reality.. This is a record, for Veterans and their Families, to give them a clearer understanding, and to pass on to the next generation, what actually happened, and the sacrifices that were made by some remarkable people.

JUNGLE GREEN SHADOWS Infantry Company
Jungle Green Shadows is an apt title for this ANZAC Rifle company history as if reflects where most of the ANZAC battles in the Vietnam war were fought – in the deadly lush green jungle shadows.
Australia and New Zealand committed combat forces to South Vietnam in 1965 as ANZUS partners with the United States. The initial 1 RAR Battalion Group grew to become the 1st Australian Task Force (1st ATF), a brigade-sized formation which commanded Australian and New Zealand Army units deployed to South Vietnam between 1966 and 1972. In total, sixteen Australian battalions and nine New Zealand rifle companies served in 1st ATF. The integrated Australian and New Zealand battalions were named ANZAC Battalions, a reflection of the original ANZAC Divisions that landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25 April 1915.
The basic building block within these ANZAC battalions was the rifle company. The Australians battalions, less the initial 1 RAR TOD, were an integration of Regular Force and National Service soldiers.

AUSTRALIANS AT WAR IN NEW ZEALAND:
The publication of Norman Bartlett’s book, Australia at Arms, was followed twenty-five years later by his more definitive paper,  outlining Australian participation in the New Zealand Wars; little new history on this matter has been published. Until very recent times, the subject has been either neglected, or rejected as a serious Australian military event, with the dismissive comment that Australians who enlisted to fight in New Zealand were ‘mercenaries’. Another criticism suggests the volunteers were not really ‘Australians’ but British colonials living in the various colonies that constituted Australia at that time. Bartlett, who pioneered the research, considered both criticisms to be spurious, and the present evidence supports the rejection of both comments.

The 9th Australian Ski School. Later renamed the Middle East Ski School.
DOG IN THE SNOW:
The Author James Riddell was born in 1909 and educated at Harrow and Cambridge. James was a member of the British International Ski Team for six years and, in 1936, was vice-captain of the Olympic Ski Team.
However, in 1941, by a strange turn of events, he found himself attached to the Australian Imperial Forces, promoted to Major and appointed Chief Instructor in charge of setting up and running a Ski School at the Cedars of Lebanon.
Over three years, some 20,000 troops of various nationalities passed through his hands as they learnt not only to ski, but to be self-sufficient and mobile in all mountain conditions, at high altitudes and in extreme cold.  James built up a team of excellent instructors around him, and for students and staff it was a very happy and successful time and, as he often remarked, these men later returned to their own countries and helped to promote the sport of skiing around the world.
Some of the Australian instructors were exceptional skiers and later belonged to numerous Ski Clubs throughout Australia.

IN PLAIN VIEW:
Borneo to Vietnam
This is the personal story of a young officer and those with whom he worked and lived, who participated in both conflicts. It is a unique story in many respects, presenting back- ground, detail, and perspectives that are not commonly recorded elsewhere.
Kim joined the New Zealand Army and served on active service in Borneo. His  story then shifts to Vietnam and that of an ANZAC Battalion Intelligence Officer developing intelligence systems and practices for unit counter-insurgency operations from first principles, some of which have curious parallels in today’s world. Reflecting his Borneo experience, Kim forged relationships with those in the local community ‘outside the wire’ as an important part of his Vietnam story. He was, as he writes, often ‘out and about’.

One of his several unsanctioned initiatives was to co-opt the support of the Provincial Reconnaissance Unit, a clandestine Vietnamese paramilitary organisation with which he operated in the mangrove swamps of the Rung Sat Secret Zone, part of the Saigon River estuary.

SHOOTING from the SHADOWS:
'Wings' Williams Story'
Between 1956 and 1971 the New Zealand Special Air Service 'NZSAS' were deployed on active service four times. Michael ‘Wings’ Williams career in the New Zealand Army, and the NZSAS, spans a significant portion of this period – and this book takes the reader through two of those key campaigns; Borneo and Vietnam. In Vietnam the NZSAS was under operational control of The Australian Special Air Service Regiment ‘SASR’.
This book gives us a glimpse into the world of an SAS soldier at that time through the eyes of one of New Zealand's SAS’ most well-known veterans. This story is important for many reasons, not least because these Cold War experiences would be so critical for future generations of New Zealand and Australian Special Forces soldiers, including Willie Apiata VC. In his biography, author Paul Little writes that one of Apiata’s best trainers was an instructor named ‘Wings’ Williams.

VIETNAM ANZACS - NEW ZEALAND EDITION:

AUSTRALIANS AND NEW ZEALANDERS IN THE VIETNAM WAR
The Vietnam War was an impossible ask for the Free World forces, given the political restrictions imposed on their conduct. Hanoi’s National Liberation Front had been in place since 1946, controlling the loyalty of the peasants through a combination of political ideology, torture, murder, assassination and abduction. Hanoi’s Tet Offensive launched in 1968 was meant to result in the general uprising of the countryside.
